Q'eswachaca Bridge
Some walking

Off the beaten path
Q’eswachaca is one of the clearest examples of “living culture” you can find in Cusco. This bridge has survived the passing of centuries, but it is also renewed every year during a colorful ceremony that involves the whole community. In fact, every year in June, the community takes the old bridge down and “weave” a new one with vegetable fibers. Do you want to experience this wonderful heritage and cross over the Apurimac river?
The tour starts early, before sunrise. The first stop is Cusipata where you can have breakfast (buffet). After that, the drive continues through the Yanaoca district with one stop at the mini volcano and all the way until it finally reaches Q’ewe, where the bridge is located. After a guided tour at the bridge location, with the possibility of crossing it over the Apurimac river, we continue to the nearby “4 lakes circuit” to admire the local landscapes.
On the way back, we stop again at Cusipata to have lunch (buffet). This is not a challenging tour but the drive is long and there’s a bit of walking involved (4 lakes circuit).
