Humantay Lake is a beautiful mountain lake dominated by the Humantay glacier. At the beginning of the hike, it will also be possible to admire another important mountain top of the region: Salkantay.
The tour to Humantay Lake starts early in Cusco, before sunrise. After a 2 hour drive (approx), we reach the small town of Mollepata where we will have a buffet breakfast (tip: don’t eat too much otherwise the hike gets tougher). After 1 more hour driving, we reach our destination (Soraypampa). The hike starts easy and gets steeper while we get closer to the top. It takes about 1.5-2 hrs to reach the lake. Due to high altitude, this hike might seem pretty challenging (we reach 4,200 m. above sea level). Keep in mind that if you do not feel like hiking, you can hire a horse at the beginning of the trail.
On the way back, we have a buffet lunch in Mollepata to get recharged before heading back to Cusco.
