Description
You cannot leave Cusco without visiting the citadel of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world. We can help you by arranging a one day tour for you!
The only way to get to Machu Picchu and back from Cusco in one day is by train, and here’s the typical itinerary (subject to variations):
- pick up from Tiyana around 8am (it may vary)
- Bimodal Service to Machu Picchu* (4 hrs approx)
- Meeting with the guide and heading to the ruins (20 min. on MP shuttle)
- Guided group visit in English or Spanish (2.5 hrs approx.)
- Free time in Machu Picchu town (2 hrs approx)
- Bimodal service back to Cusco (4 hrs approx.)
- drop off at Tiyana around 10:30 pm (it may vary)
*Bimodal Service: the bimodal service, offered by Cusco’s train companies, is an hybrid service that combines bus and train. You will travel by bus from Cusco to Ollantaytambo and back (2.5 hrs approx) and by train from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu town (1:45 hrs approx).

- Wear comfortable shoes
- Bring a small water bottle (you’ll be able to buy more water on the way)
- Sun hat and sunscreen (the visit is around mid-day, be prepared)
- Raincoat or poncho (the weather is unpredictable)
- You can buy snacks and meals in Machu Picchu Town
- Machu Picchu town has cell phone coverage (generally), ATMs, pharmacies…
- Don’t forget your camera!
Also remember that you cannot enter the citadel with:
- selfie stick
- walking sticks
- tripod
- you cannot eat inside
