Visit a rural community and join one family to experience Andean tradition and culture. 

We leave Cusco in the morning and after a 1.5 hours drive we reach the Amaru community, in the surroundings of Pisac. After a typical Andean welcome, the family will serve a restoring breakfast before starting with the day’s activities, which mainly include:

• learning about Andean textiles and their production with a weaver (natural dyeing, spinning, weaving…)
• exploring seasonal crops and discovering medicinal herbs
• share a meal and meal preparation in a traditional, rural kitchen
• learning some quechua words!

• Comfortable shoes and clothing
• Water bottle and snacks as necessary
• Sun hat and sunscreen
• Rain coat or poncho
• Dress in layers
• If you wish to purchase hand-made textiles, bring between cash (bracelets S/. 5 to 10, cushion covers S/. 50 to 70, scarf S/. 180 to 300)
• Don’t forget your camera!
